As a Muslim myself, I wish all Muslim visitors of HHF a good, fulfilling and blessed Ramadhan. May Allah accept our deeds.
I've always wanted to feature this cool website and there couldn't be a better period than now, during Ramadhan. MuslimHipHop.com features music by Muslims ard it's not restricted to only the Hip Hop genre, there's also the more traditional, Nasheed and even Reggae and Spoken Word. So it's a really healthy website that promotes arts & music within the Muslim community. If you have the time, check it out .
What is "Free Yo Soul!"? It's a non-profit live gigala get-together session organized by Hip Hop Fellowship. It will happen somewhere around Singapore at around October or November (More information to come - must give suspense what. ;P).

Anyone, I mean absolutely anyone can come down and take the stage to spit a song, spoken word, poetry, stand-up comedy, whatever. The motive is to filled your weekends with passion and free your soul from the hard week you've gone through.

Lastly, a few more details before I let yall do the talking...
!) It's going to be ticketed ('coz we need to cover the basic costs of the venue. Less than $5, promise. And it's non-profit, we will have the finance to back it up.)
!) The venue will probably fit in around 30-40 people. Very compact and it kicks ass.
!) It's a standing venue.
!) There will be Live Music equipments such as Drums, Guitars, Amps & Microphones.
!) The whole atmosphere of the venue is very relaxed but it can be easily changed depending on the performers.
!) The venue is somewhere around middle road (Bugis MRT)
!) The venue looks something like this;
(Note: The arrangement will be different from this picture. There will be no amps/equipments/instruments on the floor except on the mini stage platform.)

I'm a big fan of Japanese Hip Hop producer, Nujabes. I think I've come to love his works when I first got hold of em' at The Resistance (great discussion forum btw). So yeah, I got one of his album, Metaphorical Music and it's good fusion music, that's all I have to say. Hip Hop with jazz and maybe even a touch of bossa nova. I don't like to define these things so just check out his music and feel. That's the main thing.
Yusef Lateef is a jazz musician. I only got to know of his music today, thanks to Wikipidia and YouTube. You guys should do random browsing when you're bored, it's fun and at times it could lead to quite knowledgeable findings. And today, I couldn't be more happier thanks to Yusef Lateef.
So why are these two great musicians mentioned in the same entry? Well I kind of got to hear one of Yusef Laeef's song, Love Theme from Spartacus in YouTube and straight away it reminded me of a Hip Hop song I love very much and that is Nujabes's 'The Final View'. I think its very cleverly sampled and it's just beautiful.
